My raw food journal from Jan 28th 2010

Jan 28th 2010
Todays smoothie is coconut milk, date, 2 oranges, banana, apple, grapes, 1/4 of a pineapple and a frozen beetroot and just look at the colour! :D :D

I made some more brownies for snacking :D and the wonderful thing about these brownies is that as you have to roll the mixture into little balls in your hands, your hands end up covered in walnut oil :D :D fab stuff and so good for your skin :D

Got leftover salad for lunch and tonight its carrot and pecan burgers with curry sauce and salad. Fantastic! I love those burgers so much. So much in fact that I got Grant to make a double lot so we can have them tomorrow as well ;D ;D

I had salad every day on Atkins, for 4 and a half years!! :o :o didnt think I would like it ever again but you just have to put new things in like raw corn, sprouted quinoa, sprouted mung beans, nuts, carrot sticks, marinated mushrooms, apple :D

Jan 29th 2010
We ate late last night so today I still feel full of pecan burgers :o :o Have made a smoothie of a whole pineapple, 4 oranges and 2 clementines to last me thru the day and if I get peckish I will have a banana. Tea is more pecan burgers ;D ;D

I will weigh myself on sunday morning for a final January tally of weight loss :D and must remember to measure my waist too cos my trousers that were tight are now falling down and the belt doesnt have enough holes in it :D

I am down to half a dizzy pill a day now instead of 3 pills a day so thats an improvement. Still have dizzy turns and get exhausted if I do much but it is getting better. It will be really interesting to see if I get dizzy after a chinese meal, all that msg and carbs and cooked :o :o :o
After a month I cant look at food in the same way any more, I know processed sugar is poison- it spikes your insulin levels and creates dependency, coffee and caffeine are poison - literally a poison thats why they wake you up and make you wee cos your body is reacting to the toxin and trying to express it as soon as possible, and also creates addiction. I know that you dont need hot food in the winter, once it gets into your stomach it doesnt matter what temperature it is anyway and heating food to over 110 degrees F kills off an awful lot of enzymes, vitamins and nutrients. And I now know that flax seeds can be used for more than making oil for cricket bats ;D ;D (linseed oil)

This website talks about MSG and shows the list of other names used by manufacturers to fool consumers.

We think monday night might be chinese night ;D I will go for the english option of roast chicken with chips and gravy oh and a teaspoon of peas as the token veg ::) ::) will have spareribs too. So I will be drinking loads of water afterwards cos the additives will make me thirsty, thirsty, thirsty! :o :o and the doggies will get to share my chips :) :) I imagine Grant will have his favourite of sweet and sour chicken balls :o :o

That info on msg is terrifying! I definitely believe food manufacturers, vets, doctors and pharmaceutical companies are in league to make millions at the expense of our health and our pets health >:( and why doesnt the government do anything about it? 2 reasons, the back handers they get and also if we are depressed and sick we havent got the energy to complain about how cr*p and corrupt they are :o :o

Jan 30th 2010
Out early today so no time for breakfast so had a Nakd bar at 11am, left over pecan burgers at lunchtime with onion dip and for tea we have raw veg curry

This is the raw curry with squash 'rice'. For the curry, the veg is cut up small and marinated in a spicy mixture then dehydrated for a couple of hours. Then it is mixed into a sauce of curry powder, fruit and spices and that is put back into the dehydrator to warm. The squash is processed and has nuts and raisins added to it.

The most fantastic curry I have eaten since the last time I had a balti in birmingham! :D :D

Jan 31st 2010 - final day of the January raw challenge! my that has gone quick :o :o
Sunday weigh in................ 10 stone 8lbs :o :o

On Jan 1st I weighed 11 stone 3lbs and in November when I last went to the dizzy clinic and was told to reduce salt and cut out caffeine and try to get off the dizzy pills, I weighed 11 stone 12lbs :o :o Thats when we started to look further into diet and nutrition.

My waist measures 32 inches today and before xmas I had 36 inch waist. I have had to start wearing the belt Lisa made me to keep my trousers up as they are a 36 inch waist. The belt is fab cos its like a webbing luggage strap with an adjustment and a clip fastener ;D ;D Thanks Lisa, you are a life saver ;D

My dizzy pills are reduced to half a tablet a day from 3 tablets a day and I have a blood test booked for tuesday to see if my thyroid levels have improved, if I am told to reduce my thyroxine intake then I will know the raw diet is helping to heal me :D

Today I am having melon and cherries for breakfast - a whole galia melon and half a punnet of cherries ;D ;D

Then, if the snow holds off, I am walking to Snibston with Vera and Reg. For lunch I will have a fruit smoothie cos my kitchen cupboard looks like a greengrocers shop ;D and then for tea we are having broccoli and brazil mash with spiral cut beetroot and a ginger marinara sauce :P :P :D :D

Tomorrow nights tea will be the big experiment! Chinese takeaway. We will see what dreadful things that does to us and it may be the last chinese we ever have ;D

Ooh by the way, Grants weight loss has been even better than mine! In Jan alone he has lost 16lbs and 4.5 inches off his waist. Since November he has lost 2stone 3lbs. We are the incredible shrinking family :o :o

My smoothie consisted of mango, grapes, banana, apple, 3 clementines (ooh they are lovely and sweet), frozen raspberries and frozen pineapple. Yum yum!

Change of plan for tea tonight, we are going to have the chinese takeaway tonight cos we can have it early and give it plenty of time to work its magic ::) rather than have it late tomorrow night after Grant finishes work and then have to go to bed on full tummys. Dont worry tho cos the doggies will still get some chips and pineapple fritters, their favourites ;D ;D and tomorrow night we can have the broccoli and brazil mash, beetroot and ginger marinara.

Feb 1st 2010
We had our chinese takeaway for our tea and could not believe the effects on us :o :o :o This is food - if you can call it that - that we used to love! and now the spareribs were dry and tough and the barbecue sauce was soooooo sweet. Then Grant had special fried rice with sweet and sour chicken balls and as he was eating it he started to develop cold symptoms with a runny nose. I had roast chicken with peas (about 10 peas) and chips, with salt and vinegar on them :o The chicken tasted ok, the chips were as nice as I remembered them but the salt levels (or is it msg in the gravy) were thru the roof! I could only eat about half before I was stuffed to the gunnels and couldnt even attempt the pineapple fritters. The dogs helped me out with the chips and fritters and they had the rest of my chicken in their breakfast this morning. After the meal Grant and I both felt uncomfortably full and sooooooo thirsty! We both had a restless nights sleep and I woke up at 2.15am with chest pains :o :o Grant weighed himself this morning (he does every day) and he has gained 2lbs. Im not getting on the scales! I have a very sore throat and a stiff neck this morning and still thirsty but at least Im not as dizzy as I thought I might be. Thats one of the reasons for bringing the chinese meal forward a day, cos I have a blood test booked for tomorrow and didnt know how dizzy I would be for walking to the doctors surgery. I have a giant smoothie of half a watermelon, oranges, grapes and pineapple to try and flush out all that salt and msg and whatever else I ate :o :o no more chinese takeaways for us! back on the raw, definitely! :D
